Supervised Fieldwork Requirements
Applicants must complete supervised fieldwork in applied behavior analysis to qualify for BCBA certification.

  • Hours Required: 2,000 Supervised Fieldwork hours or 1,500 Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork hours. A mix is allowed (see guidelines).
  • Start of Fieldwork: You may begin only after securing a qualified supervisor, signing a supervision contract, and meeting coursework or experience requirements (depending on pathway).
  • Accrual: 20–130 hours per month; must be completed within 5 continuous years. Hours include both independent and supervised activities.
  • Clients: Must work with multiple clients (not relatives or primary caregivers).
  • Acceptable Activities: Include assessments, designing and monitoring programs, writing plans and reports, training others, collaborating with caregivers/professionals, and other tasks typical of a behavior analyst.
